The Last People of Chernobyl is a documentary that was made during a humanitarian expedition for the samosely. It depicts the lives of people who have never come to terms with the forced evacuation ordered after the disaster at the nearby nuclear power plant. They live on contaminated land despite the bans and occupy themselves with quite normal things. One babushka is feisty and eager to receive visitors, another modest, and another completely oblivious and lonely.
They all have one thing in common: a lack of basic products. A mobile store comes to their abandoned villages once every 4-5 weeks, while medical care is practically non-existent. With the financial help of our readers and viewers, we organized an expedition, during which we visited the elders and gave them food, warm things, and our time.
