The Road to Nowhere – North American Premiere & Boston Spotlight
We’re proud to share that The Road to Nowhere had its North American premiere at the renowned Boston Sci-Fi Film Festival – one of the longest-running science fiction festivals in the United States! Being part of a lineup that has, for nearly five decades, championed bold, visionary filmmaking was an incredible milestone for our independent post-apocalyptic drama. It’s a big step forward not only for our team, but also for the evolving presence of Polish science fiction cinema on the global stage.
During the festival, director Amadeusz Kocan had the opportunity to sit down for an interview with Boston Sci-Fi, where he spoke about the inspirations behind the film, the emotional weight of isolation in a broken world, and the moral dilemmas faced by those who survive. One of the key influences on the story was the real-life example of the Chernobyl Samosely—residents who returned to the exclusion zone after the disaster. Their resilience and quiet defiance helped shape the heart of our protagonist’s journey.
And back home in Poland, the conversation continued. Amadeusz appeared on Radio Index’s program Hitchhiking Through Fantasy, diving deeper into the challenges of creating sci-fi in Poland, the creative process behind The Road to Nowhere, and whether Polish genre cinema can stand alongside international productions.
